Operation & Maintenance

PAINTED PRODUCTS

INSPECTION & CLEANING:
Painted products are often exposed to physical impacts or environmental influences. We therefore recommend an
inspection after installation – & then inspection and cleaning 1–2 times per year depending on condition.
Cleaning is carried out with water & standard household detergent with a pH value of 5–8, which does not
contain abrasives. Alternatively, car shampoo may be used. For cleaning, use a soft brush or a
wrung-out cloth for washing.
Cleaning or cleansing products containing solvents must never be used.

REPAIR OF DAMAGE:
The repair must include degreasing, cleaning & finishing, where all impurities & rust formation
are removed before the repair is carried out.

MINOR DAMAGE:
Minor damage & scratches can be repaired on site as a spot repair. Any loose/flaking paint is removed.
The affected area incl. any rust is sanded away with fine sandpaper. The area is sanded down to bare
iron/galvanising so that primer/paint has sufficient contact with the metal.
The area is then cleaned of sanding residue, oil, road film, grease, etc.
The primer/paint approved by the supplier Besa is applied with a brush – roller or spray. Drying time: see
Besa Technical Data Sheet!
Approved topcoat/topcoat in the correct colour code is applied with a brush – roller or spray to the original
film thickness; see Besa Technical Data Sheet!

MAJOR DAMAGE:
In the event of major damage, contact the task provider so that a professional assessment can be carried out. The provider
may optionally contact the supplier LAK Grossisten for any guidance on this.
Major damage can probably also be repaired on site, but it is recommended that it be carried out by a professional
surface finisher.

VISIBILITY AFTER REPAIR:
There will always be a colour difference on the product that has been repaired. However, over time this will often
even out.

NOTES:
NOTE: Always pay attention to the manufacturer’s safety instructions before starting the repair work.
Always use protective equipment. Read the safety instructions & Technical Data Sheets referred to by Besa.
